SECRET HIDEOUTS

This collection of images is the result of my never-ending fascination with the critters of the Puget Sound. Most of these creatures prefer to remain undetected and for the most part do remain unseen. I, however, have made it a personal mission to invade their crevices and neighborhoods to see how they live, who they live with, and how they camouflage themselves. For some a quick tilt of the head means they will match the fauna on the outside of their home. For others the slow retreat to the darker rooms of their mansion does it. Whatever it is I have tried to invade and record...

Two gunnels inside a rusted pipe.                  Red Rock Crab hiding under tentacles.          Giant Pacific Octopus in discarded tire.

Octopus genie inside bottle.                          Sculpin inside boat fitting in sunken ship.        Grunt Sculpin inside PVC pipe.

Gunnel trio shacked up in sheet metal.           Cockscomb in an aluminum beer can.            More gunnels inside rusted pipe.
